Jason Kelce praises Jeff Stoutland after legendary offensive line coach's departure from Eagles

Former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce won't be the only one who misses offensive line coach/run game coordinator Jeff Stoutland when he's gone.

On Wednesday night, Stoutland, who joined the Eagles in 2013, confirmed he would not be returning to Philadelphia next season.

Jason Kelce reacts to Jeff Stoutland news

"When I arrived here in 2013, I did not know what I was signing up for," Stoutland wrote on X. "I quickly learned what this city demands. But more importantly, what it gives back.

"The past 13 years have been the great privilege of my coaching career. I didn't just work here, I became one of you."

Shortly after the announcement, Kelce, who played his entire 13-year career in Philadelphia (2011-23), thanked his former coach.

"There is absolutely no one I credit more with the career I had than Jeff Stoutland," the seven-time Pro Bowler wrote on X. "He will undoubtedly be missed inside the building, and everyone that played for him. I am incredibly grateful to have played for Stout, 1 of 1 coach and people. I love you, coach."

Other Eagles should soon echo Kelce's sentiments. Stoutland played a key role in the team's success over the past decade.

Jeff Stoutland helped shape one of the best O-lines in the NFL

The Eagles, who won two Super Bowls during Stoutland's tenure, have boasted one of the best O-lines in the NFL for over a decade. Philadelphia fans should thank Stoutland for that.

Per Dave Spadaro of the team website, seven offensive linemen have earned 27 Pro Bowl selections under the offensive assistant. Five players also earned 15 All-Pro honors. This list includes six-time first-team All-Pro Kelce and offensive tackle Lane Johnson (six Pro Bowls, two first-team All-Pro selections).

The elite unit paved the way for running back Saquon Barkley when he ran for 2,005 yards in 16 regular-season games during the 2024 season. He's one of nine RBs to reach that mark.

Pro Football Reference credited the Eagles with a league-leading 2,011 yards before contact during the 2024 season. YBC measures how many yards a runner gains before he's touched. A higher YBC means an O-line is doing its job.

O-line coaches don't receive as much credit as offensive coordinators, but great ones like Stoutland can help build one of the league's premier franchises. Kelce and others would agree.
