Taylor Swift once sang that fellow pop singer Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist. After Super Bowl LX, he may be.
Puth sang the "Star Spangled Banner" at the "Big Game" between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots on Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. For the most part, fans and critics gave him two thumbs up for his rendition of the National Anthem.
On X, Nicole Menner, a sports reporter for WJAR-TV in Providence, R.I., reiterated Swift's lyric about Puth from the title track from her 2024 album, "The Tortured Poets Department."
"Taylor was so right when she wrote 'we declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist," wrote Menner. "That was incredible."

That was incredible.
USA Today national music writer Melissa Ruggieri also approved.
"Puth, 34, backed by a small orchestra, was pitch-perfect on the song and seemed in awe of his surroundings as he ran his hands through his hair to look skyward at the flyover," wrote Ruggieri in a column after the performance.
Unlike many renditions of the National Anthem, Puth's performance wasn't too long. Per former ESPN reporter Darren Rovell, his performance lasted roughly one minute and 50 seconds. The average length is usually closer to two minutes but sometimes goes a little longer.
Unofficial time on Charlie Puth's National Anthem is 1:50.68.

Way under 116 seconds.
It should be no surprise that Puth crushed it. He's not only a talented artist, but he also practiced the song constantly after being named the singer for the National Anthem in December 2025.
"I think the best way for me to approach it specifically is, the arrangement is everything for me," the New Jersey native told Apple Music before Super Bowl LX. "I always reverse engineer how I hear my own music in my head, and then it's just pulling it apart and making it a feasible product to hold. I've been rehearsing this in my head for months, if that makes sense."
Puth releases his next album, "Whatever's Clever!" on March 27. Perhaps he'll have more Spotify downloads on that track and become a bigger artist like Swift wanted.
