How might Klint Kubiak fill out his Raiders coaching staff?

After leading the Seattle Seahawks to victory in Super Bowl LX and guiding an offense that averaged 28.4 points per game, Klint Kubiak is now stepping into the role of head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Raiders are coming off a disappointing 3-14 season and have seemingly already parted ways with several assistants from the Pete Carroll era, including quarterbacks coach Greg Olson, offensive line coach Brennan Carroll, wide receivers coach Chris Beatty and others. Kubiak will have the opportunity to build his coaching staff from scratch.

As a first-time head coach with recent success in Seattle, he is expected to lean on trusted veterans. Several Seahawks assistants are strong candidates to join him in Las Vegas, along with familiar faces from his previous positions.

Offensive side: Bringing the Klint Kubiak blueprint

Kubiak is likely to call plays himself, given his track record as an offensive coordinator, but he'll need a strong coordinator and position coaches to execute his vision — especially with the Raiders' young talent and a high 2026 draft pick potentially at quarterback.

Here are some candidates to join Kubiak's staff on the offensive side of the ball:

  • Andrew Janocko (Seahawks quarterbacks coach)
Janocko is one of the strongest links. He followed Kubiak from the New Orleans Saints (where Kubiak was offensive coordinator in 2024) to Seattle in 2025, and their relationship dates back to multiple stints with the Minnesota Vikings (2019-2021). Janocko has been praised as a close disciple and friend of Kubiak. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero highlighted him as a "top candidate" for the Raiders' offensive coordinator role. If Kubiak retains play-calling duties, Janocko could serve as a pass-game-focused assistant or quarterbacks coach to develop the next signal-caller.
  • Justin Outten (Seahawks run game specialist/assistant offensive line coach)
Outten has worked with Kubiak recently and has experience with play-calling. He's another Seattle staffer who could slide into the offensive line coach role, particularly if Kubiak wants to keep the run-heavy elements intact.
  • Jake Peetz (Seahawks offensive pass game coordinator)
Peetz has ties to Kubiak's recent schemes. He has been mentioned in Seattle replacement discussions, but if he doesn't get the offensive coordinator job there, he could follow Kubiak to Vegas.

Defensive side: Experience is the key

While the offense will carry Kubiak's imprint, the Raiders defense, which has been ranked poorly in recent years, needs a major overhaul. Kubiak may look to import Seahawks defensive talent or tap experienced play-callers from around the league.

Here are some candidates to join Kubiak's staff on the defensive side of the ball:

  • Karl Scott (Seahawks defensive pass game coordinator/ defensive backs coach)
Scott has been with Seattle since 2022 and overlapped with Kubiak in Minnesota (2021). He's drawn interest league-wide for defensive coordinator jobs and could bring elements of the Seahawks' aggressive secondary play to Vegas as a possible defensive coordinator.
  • Jim Schwartz (Former Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator)
While it is highly unlikely, especially since he is expected to opt out of the 2026 season, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, it would be an ideal move if Kubiak could convince Schwartz to come to Vegas. This would likely help retain defensive end Maxx Crosby in the Silver and Black and foster a new, aggressive culture.
  • Kirk Olivadotti (Seahawks inside linebackers coach)
Olivadotti brings 24 years of coaching experience. If Kubiak could bring over from Seattle, he would likely become the team's linebackers or defensive backs coach and provide more experienced depth for the staff.

Staff and culture fit

Kubiak's assistants have praised his authenticity, selflessness, and player-first approach — traits that could help stabilize a franchise that's cycled through coaches rapidly. The staff-building process will move quickly, with the combine, draft, and free agency looming.

If Kubiak assembles a blend of Seattle's Super Bowl-winning pieces and veteran expertise, it could signal a true shift toward sustained competitiveness in Las Vegas. This hire isn't just about one coach — it's about building a program.

Kubiak's early moves on staff will set the tone for whether the Raiders can finally end their coaching carousel and build something lasting in the desert.
