Nick Sirianni comment suggests A.J. Brown-Eagles divorce is becoming more likely

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni isn't sure he'll be coaching star wide receiver A.J. Brown next season.

On Tuesday at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, the coach said both parties would like the three-time Pro Bowl WR to remain in Philadelphia. However, he didn't promise the pass-catcher would.

What Nick Sirianni, Howie Roseman said about A.J. Brown's future with the Eagles

"Will A.J. be here next season? I think we're still in a spot, like, I can't guarantee how anything is going to play out next season. I'm thinking I'm going to be the coach next season, but you can't guarantee anything past tomorrow," Sirianni said, per ESPN's Tim McManus.

Eagles GM Roseman, meanwhile, was more direct. He said he would prefer to keep Brown but isn't ruling out trading him if a team offers an enticing package.

"Without getting into the specifics on any player, we're always listening, and we're always kind of open," Roseman said. "There's very few things that I would shoot down without even hearing what that means, because how does it hurt to listen?"

Does this mean the Eagles are poised to trade A.J. Brown?

Roseman and Sirianni's comments don't mean the Eagles are definitely trading Brown, but it's certainly in play. Plenty of teams (Buffalo Bills) would be interested in the WR, who turns 29 on June 30.

Since the Eagles acquired Brown in a trade with the Tennessee Titans before the 2022 season, he has made two Pro Bowls and helped the team win its second Super Bowl title. During this span, the wideout has logged the fifth-most receiving yards (5,034) in the NFL (via StatMuse).

Brown, though, has grown increasingly frustrated in Philadelphia. He carped about his usage and production throughout the 2025 season. He had 1,003 receiving yards during the regular season, his lowest mark during his time in Philadelphia.

The Eagles, meanwhile, have grown frustrated with his apparent lack of effort at times. Former Philadelphia center Jason Kelce called him out for it in an interview with WIP-FM in Philadelphia on Feb. 12.

"How hard is it to play with a player who's not giving full effort? It's incredibly frustrating," Kelce said, via Sports Illustrated's Madison Williams. "Any player that's out there, when you're seeing a teammate not go all out, that's all you want from your teammates, and that's all we want as fans. It's a really hard thing to optically watch, it's frustrating to watch."

WR DeVonta Smith proved he could be a No. 1 option for the team last season, leading the Eagles in receiving yards (1,008). His rise may make Brown more replaceable.

Sirianni may keep trying to sidestep questions about Brown's future in Philadelphia, but he isn't fooling anybody. A split is looking much more likely.
