A report from earlier this winter detailed how people within the Las Vegas Raiders weren't "sure which calls are being made by whom" due to the perception that Raiders principal owner Mark Davis has minority owner Tom Brady serving as "the de facto boss when it comes to football matters."
For a piece published on Wednesday related to star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby allegedly wanting to be traded by the Raiders, NFL insider Michael Silver of The Athletic shared that Crosby and "many" players/coaches were "frustrated by the presence of Alex Guerrero" this past season.
"Guerrero, who regularly attends practices and meetings, purports to possess significant organizational power, informing players of impending transactions and even indicating to staff members who don’t follow his instructions that their jobs may be at risk," Silver wrote.
Guerrero, who holds the role of "wellness coordinator" with the Raiders, is largely known as Brady’s longtime body coach and has received credit for the "The TB12 Method" that the seven-time Super Bowl champion has said helped him play at an elite level into his 40s. In September 2024, it was reported that Guerrero had begun working for the Raiders "after making a difference last year for guys such as Maxx Crosby."
Additionally, the Raiders have John Spytek, Brady's former teammate at Michigan, as their general manager. While it was previously reported that Crosby had informed Brady that the 28-year-old would "never play for" the team again, Crosby later suggested that he "had a good relationship" with the future Hall of Famer.
"Guerrero is perceived to have a direct pipeline to Brady, who lives in Florida and serves as Fox’s lead NFL analyst, limiting his in-person presence," Silver continued.
Silver added that Guerrero's presence has led to "trust issues" within the Raiders.
Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio is among the members of the NFL community who have said Brady should pick a lane and either run the Raiders or keep working for Fox. The 10-year deal reportedly worth $375M that Brady and Fox agreed to in 2022 gives him more than enough reasons to not care all that much what Florio and others have to say about an arrangement that seemingly won't be changing before the 2026 season gets underway.
