Mario Cristobal, Miami win again on the recruiting trail with top-five WR's commitment

Mario Cristobal seems to be building something special with the Miami Hurricanes.

His team made the College Football Playoff National Championship Game this past season, he's been cleaning up in the transfer portal and Miami is also doing great work on the recruiting trail.

The Hurricanes' 2026 recruiting class ranked top-10 in the country.

Cristobal is off to a hot start on the 2027 recruiting trail as well, and things just got even better for the Hurricanes with the commitment of five-star wideout Nick Lennear.

Lennear, from Opa Locka, Florida, committed to Miami on Thursday over Florida State, Syracuse, Nebraska, Texas A&M, USC, LSU and Oklahoma.

Lennear announced his decision at a recruiting event at Cristobal's house, so they're obviously already close.

"It means a lot to me playing under Coach Cristobal and under [Kevin Beard] and [Malachi Toney], a kid out of South Florida," Lennear said, according to Gaby Urrutia of 247Sports. "Just learning the real thing of the game, playing under someone who understands how to play as a freshman and start and play right now."

Nick Lennear a massive recruiting win for Miami Hurricanes

Lennear will have a chance to play at Miami sooner rather than later, because he projects to be a strong prospect for the Hurricanes.

According to the 247Sports Composite, he's the No. 3 wideout recruit in the 2027 class and the No. 12 overall recruit in the country.

He's played on championship teams at the high school level and even put up 135 yards and a touchdown in the Sunshine State 3A championship game in 2025. He also played in the Navy All-American Bowl, putting up six catches for 48 yards and a touchdown.

Lennear has one season of high school ball remaining to keep refining his skill set, but he's projected to be a big-time addition for the Hurricanes when all is said and done.
