Pittsburgh Steelers legend and Hall of Famer Rod Woodson recently made it known he is "tired" of waiting to learn whether or not Aaron Rodgers will serve as the club's starting quarterback for the 2026 season.
Woodson and like-minded Pittsburgh fans probably won't love the latest Rodgers-related update.
On Tuesday, NFL insider Jason La Canfora of SportsBoom US revealed that Steelers general manager Omar Khan and head coach Mike McCarthy are giving Rodgers "time and space to sort out his future" early into the start of the new league year.
"While there is no direct timeline in place between the veteran quarterback and the reigning AFC North champs," La Canfora explained, "there is a strong expectation in league circles that closure comes in the new few weeks."
A previous report claimed that Rodgers would "likely" finalize his plans for the 2026 season by the "end of" March. However, the "no direct timeline" phrase suggests the situation could drag into the start of Pittsburgh's offseason workout program on April 6.
"They remain comfortable with Rodgers returning and are not pressing him on the issue whatsoever," La Canfora added about the Steelers.
It was recently shared that Rodgers and the Steelers have had "positive conversations" about the future.
The Las Vegas Raiders reportedly could sign veteran Kirk Cousins, make Indiana Hoosiers quarterback Fernando Mendoza the first overall pick of this year's draft and then have Mendoza spend his rookie season serving as Cousins' backup. In the past, Raiders minority owner Tom Brady has warned teams about starting first-year quarterbacks before they're ready for in-game action.
One executive from a different team who spoke with La Canfora hinted that Rodgers could reach out to Brady about possibly playing for the Raiders later this year. That said, the executive was sure to point out that it's unclear if the Raiders have any interest in signing Rodgers this offseason.
"It’s Pittsburgh or nothing, how I see it," the executive said about Rodgers' situation.
It appears that outsiders may not learn how this particular Rodgers story will end until some point in April, if not further down the road.
