Injury concerns could've hurt Francis Mauigoa's stock just two weeks before the NFL Draft.
The Miami star underwent a medical recheck after some teams expressed concerns about a back injury, even though he wasn't a candidate for surgery.
Now, NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo reports that the recheck found no new issues or injuries.
"Miami OT Francis Mauigoa’s recheck is complete, with no new issues or concerns, source says. After the request for a recheck was made in early March, Mauigoa met/visited with teams in the top third of the first round, an sign of his confidence any concerns would be satisfied," Garofolo wrote on X.
Barring a major turn of events, Mauigoa will be the first offensive lineman off the board, with some projections having him as high as No. 3 to the Arizona Cardinals.
A shutdown right tackle in the corner, some believe Mauigoa would be better suited to play guard in the pros, given that he has shorter arms than the average player at the position.
He took snaps at all offensive line positions at the NFL Scouting Combine, and he expressed no concerns about his ability to make an impact, regardless of where he plays.
This class will also feature other potential first-round OL prospects like Spencer Fano, Monroe Freeling, Kadyn Proctor, Olaivavega Ioane and Caleb Lomu.
That said, Mauigoa's versatility and mauling nature made him stand out from the rest of the pack, and now that he's cleared of any potential injury concern, it would be shocking to see him fall past the top 10.
