As part of the Pittsburgh Pirates' slugfest on Monday night, Brandon Lowe further solidified himself as one of the top bats in the lineup.
Lowe even made franchise history, joining an exclusive group in the Pirates' 16-5 win over the Washington Nationals.
Lowe, 31, who the Pirates acquired in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays in December, continued his offensive tear to start the 2026 season with a five-RBI game against Washington. He went 3-for-5 with a home run and two runs scored and upped his average from .245 to .278.
Lowe's performance marked his second consecutive game with five RBI, becoming the first Pirates player to drive in five or more runs in back-to-back games in well over a century. The last such occurrence was from Honus Wagner in 1901.

Lowe now joins Wagner and Jimmy Williams (1899) as the only Pirates to ever record at least five RBI in consecutive games. He offered his thoughts on the moment, especially as part of the team's success so far this season, to reporters after the game.
"The best way to describe it is hitting is contagious... everyone is starting to see the rewards of everyone's work," Lowe said.

Since crushing two home runs on Opening Day in New York against the Mets, Lowe has hit four more and is on track to have his most powerful season to date. He has six home runs, 14 RBI, nine runs scored, a pair of doubles, a .400 OBP and a .648 slug in 14 games and 54 at-bats.
In addition to his hot start to the season, the expectations for Lowe's full season are high based on his 2025 season with the Rays. He hit 31 home runs and drove in 83 runs, being named an All-Star for the second time in his career.
