The PGA Tour returns to its regularly scheduled programming this week with the Cadillac Championship from Trump National Doral's Blue Monster course.
There are plenty of juicy storylines leading up to the fifth Signature Event of the season, so let's break them down.
After a 10-year break from PGA Tour action, the Blue Monster course at Trump National Doral is back on the schedule and ready to host the best players in the world. Trump Doral last hosted a PGA Tour event, the WGC-Cadillac Championship, in 2016. It also hosted LIV Golf Miami in 2024 and 2025.
As the name suggests, the Blue Monster is an enormous, difficult golf course that can play as long as 7,700 yards. The last six winners here (Marc Leishman, Dean Burmester, Adam Scott, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed and Tiger Woods) were all bombers at the time of their victories. If you can't bomb it off the tee and hit your long irons well, you probably have no chance this week.
Even though the Cadillac Championship is a Signature Event on the 2026 PGA Tour schedule, numerous stars have chosen to skip the tournament. McIlroy, Aberg, Xander Schauffele and Matt Fitzpatrick are all taking the week off as they prepare for the PGA Championship in two weeks.

The point of Signature Events is to ensure the top stars on the PGA Tour play in the same field eight times per year, but that plan doesn't work if players are allowed to skip these tournaments whenever they please. That's especially true for McIlroy, who's already missed multiple Signature Events this year. This new initiative isn't working as well as the PGA Tour expected.
It's hard not to love Young this week. The American ranks second on the PGA Tour this season in total driving and proximity to the hole, 10th in strokes gained from off the tee and fourth in approaches from 175-200, which will be a popular range this week.
Young has already won THE PLAYERS Championship and played in the final group on Sunday at the Masters this year. He's ready to knock off more big-boy wins and build toward his first major championship title, and this is a perfect golf course for him to do just that.
With the second major championship of the season just two weeks away, multiple stars are searching for some much-needed momentum.
Fleetwood, who was poised for a massive year after winning the 2025 Tour Championship, hasn't seriously contended in 2026. He finished T33 at the Masters and T52 at the RBC Heritage in his last two starts, so he needs a strong performance before heading to Aronimink Golf Club.
As for Thomas, he's been abysmal since his top-10 finish at THE PLAYERS Championship in March. He's coming off a T77 finish at the RBC Heritage in which he lost strokes to the field in three of the four major categories. The PGA Championship is JT's favorite major, but he won't be able to contend at Aronimink with his current form.
