For months, Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver A.J. Brown has been tangled up in trade rumors.
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has said all the right things about not wanting to trade him, but it's reached a point where he may not have a choice.
Likewise, the New England Patriots have actively pursued Brown for quite a while now, and a move to Foxborough feels all but inevitable at this point.
Considering that, ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler claimed that both teams may have already agreed to valuable trade compensation, though they're just waiting until June 1 to get a deal done.
“My best guess is that they already agreed to something loosely,” Fowler said on 97.5 The Fan. “They can always tweak that or rework it, but they’re probably getting a [first-round pick], maybe a future [first], maybe it’s a 2028 [pick]. I don’t think they’ll get more than that, I think that would be the max at this point, I’d be surprised [if it’s more].”
Fowler continued by revealing that the Eagles actually wanted more in return for the former Tennessee Titans star, but it's hard to believe they can get more than what the Patriots may give them, especially since there may not be another taker.
“Philly once upon a time hoped for a [first] and a [second], I just don’t see that happening,” Fowler continued. “Maybe they can get creative and swap some mid-to-late-round picks to sweeten it up.”
The Eagles must wait until after June 1 to trade Brown to avoid absorbing a massive dead cap hit, so there's clearly no rush to get a deal done, and things can still change.
That said, after watching the way they operated in the 2026 NFL Draft and the offseason, it looks like they've already braced themselves to lose their star pass catcher.
