Chiefs share first video of Patrick Mahomes back in action after injury

The Kansas City Chiefs are in rebuild mode, which is weird to say about a franchise that's won three Super Bowls in the past several years, but it's true. Patrick Mahomes and company are working to come back from a disappointing 2025 season that saw them earn a 6-11 record and no trip to the playoffs.

One of the biggest disasters of the season was Mahomes tearing the ACL and LCL in his knee during the team's Dec. 14 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. That took Mahomes out for the rest of the season and even put into question whether he'll be ready to take the field to start the Chiefs' upcoming season.

Well, Chiefs fans should be happy to see that Mahomes is back in action. On Tuesday, Mahomes was back on the field during the Chiefs' first OTAs practice, and he looked in solid form.

The star quarterback was officially back on the field with his teammates on Tuesday for the first time since suffering the season-ending injury last year.

Although the Chiefs didn't go into detail the extent of Mahomes' participation, the team shared a clip of the signal-caller throwing on the field with a brace still on his left knee. He looked sturdy and ready to head up a comeback season for the team.

The first day of OTAs was closed to reporters, so no additional information about Mahomes' participation surfaced. But Kansas City's first practice open to reporters is scheduled for Thursday, and that's when the team is expected to share more information about Mahomes' recovery.
