The Los Angeles Rams' latest all-in move in the pursuit of their next championship involved trading edge-rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round draft pick, a 2028 second-round pick and a 2029 third-round choice to the Cleveland Browns for two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett.
That transaction makes the 2026 Rams a Super-Bowl-or-bust team in the eyes of many outsiders. While speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Garrett indicated he wouldn't have it any other way.
"That's always been my role since I've stepped foot into the NFL," Garrett explained, per Nick Shook of the league's website. "So, nothing changes for me. I don't feel any pressure to be anything else or be anything different. As long as I'm myself, and I come in here to work every day, and I'm a leader, the success will follow."
Team success has largely been foreign to Garrett since the Browns made him the first overall pick of the 2017 draft. He has thus far played in just three career playoff games, the last of which occurred in January 2024, and he has been part of one postseason victory.
Garrett is now with a team that features Super Bowl champions such as reigning regular-season MVP Matthew Stafford and head coach Sean McVay. Additionally, the Rams are coming off a trip to this year's NFC Championship Game.
"I see a position to solidify myself here, as well, among the very greats," Garrett continued. "I still have plenty of great years in front of me and being able to cement that legacy, not only as a football city here in L.A., but as an individual and winning DPOY and a Super Bowl or more. Those things are definitely pressing on my mind, and I have a definite bit of urgency to do it and do it right away."
As of Wednesday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Rams listed as the overall betting favorites at +600 odds to win Super Bowl LXI in February 2027. That says plenty about how certain insiders view a Los Angeles team that may soon be able to add retired defensive superstar Aaron Donald to its roster. Nevertheless, Garrett understands he hasn't yet achieved anything of note with his current employer.
"On paper, I'm sure things look great. But we've got to go out there and put the work in," Garrett added during his comments. "It starts on the field, it starts in the classroom. We're not going to take a single day for granted. We're not going to be looking at any odds or favorites. We're going to win each game day by day."
