Travis Kelce makes feelings clear on Eric Bieniemy's return to Chiefs

For Kansas City Chiefs fans, Eric Bieniemy hardly needs an introduction. He spent years helping shape one of the NFL's most explosive offenses and was a familiar face on the sidelines during Kansas City's rise to becoming a perennial Super Bowl contender

While much of the spotlight understandably went to Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and head coach Andy Reid, Bieniemy played a significant role behind the scenes in developing the offense that terrorized defenses around the league.

Travis Kelce gives his thoughts on Eric Bieniemy

On the most recent episode of the "New Heights" podcast starring Travis Kelce and brother Jason Kelce, Travis made his feelings clear on the return of Bieniemy.

"E.B. back in the building! Sometimes a guy comes around and you just know you're done f--king around. I think Coach Reid is one of those guys but even to another degree the accountability that Eric Bieniemy holds is second to none man," Travis Kelce said.

Travis Kelce has nothing but respect for Bieniemy

These words from Kelce truly underscore the immense amount of respect that Bieniemy has within the organization. Where the fan base credits Reid, Mahomes and Travis Kelce for the Chiefs' Super Bowl dynasty, players like Kelce have credited Bieniemy for instilling a difficult but accountable coaching system that they believe ultimately leads to success.

Bieniemy's NFL coaching career

Bieniemy coached for the Chiefs for 10 years between 2013 and 2022. He was the running backs coach and eventually worked his way up to becoming the offensive coordinator. Bieniemy then left the Chiefs and spent one year as the offensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders in 2023. After a coaching and ownership change in Washington, he went to UCLA and was a running backs coach for the Chicago Bears in 2025. Bieniemy is now returning to Kansas City, where he was a member of two Super Bowl-winning teams.

Can Bieniemy get the Chiefs back in the AFC West picture?

Whether Bieniemy can get the Chiefs back on top of the AFC West remains to be seen, but bringing him in should be an immediate upgrade to a staff that already knows how to unlock the abilities of Mahomes and Travis Kelce. The Chiefs are still relevant, but over the last two years their offense has not seemed to be the same caliber that it once was. If Bieniemy can bring the level of accountability and focus Travis Kelce spoke of, then the Chiefs will once again possess one of the most lethal offenses in the NFL and become a top-tier AFC team again.
