As has become par for the course during his tenure, Jalen Brunson made history while leading the New York Knicks to a win on Wednesday night.
Even after a bumpy start and having to leave the game briefly, Brunson still scored 30 points in the Knicks' 105-95 road win over the San Antonio Spurs to open the NBA Finals.
Brunson's performance further enhanced his case as the greatest playoff player in franchise history. His 30 points, accomplished despite shooting only 38.7% from the field, became the most by any Knicks player in a Game 1 of an NBA Finals since Willis Reed dropped 37 in 1970 en route to the first of New York's two championships.
Coming alive late, Brunson put up 13 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter. And in addition to his point total, Brunson also helped New York's cause by bringing down three rebounds and dishing out a pair of assists.
Brunson now has his team just three wins away from capturing New York's first NBA title in over 50 years.

So not only is Brunson on the verge of ending the Knicks' title drought, but he's doing so by making history like only he can.
His next opportunity will come on Friday night when the Knicks go for their 13th playoff win in a row, one that would give them a commanding 2-0 series lead as the Finals shift to Madison Square Garden for Game 3.
