Samantha Busch thanks NASCAR fans 'for loving Kyle'

Just three days after the tragic death of NASCAR legend Kyle Busch, his wife Samantha and children Brexton and Lennix stood on pit road at Charlotte Motor Speedway ahead of the Coca-Cola 600 with the NASCAR industry literally standings behind them.

It was an incredibly emotional moment on a race weekend that felt as bizarre as a weekend at the track could feel. But amid the tragedy, it was moving to see so many individuals, from drivers and their families, to fans and NASCAR CEO Steve O'Donnell show their support for Busch's family.

On Friday, Samantha Busch released a statement in a social media post thanking NASCAR fans for their support of her husband and the Busch family.

"The prayers, messages, flowers, meals, hugs, and countless acts of kindness have carried us through the most heartbreaking days of our lives," Busch wrote. "While our hearts are absolutely shattered, we have felt God’s presence and arms wrapped tightly around us through each and every one of you."

"...From family and friends to fans and complete strangers, thank you for showing up for us. Thank you for loving our family so well.... Thank you for loving Kyle. Thank you for honoring him."

Sunday's FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway will be the third Cup Series race since Kyle Busch's death. Thursday marked the three-year anniversary of what turned out to be Busch's 63rd and final Cup Series victory.
