Happy 70th birthday to eight-time Pro Bowler, four-time Super Bowl champion, three-time Super Bowl MVP and two-time AP MVP, Joe Montana!
Montana was selected in the third round of the 1979 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame and would go on to become one of the most iconic quarterbacks in NFL history.
After starting just eight-combined games between his first and second seasons, Montana made the Pro Bowl in his first full-season as a starter in 1981. He threw for 3,565 yards and 19 touchdowns to 12 interceptions while leading the NFL with a completion percentage of 63.7 while leading the Niners to their most wins in franchise history at the time (13) and their first Super Bowl.
Montana would go 4-0 in his Super Bowl-career, closing out with a 297-yard, five-touchdown performance in Super Bowl XXIV in a 55-10 win over Denver. He finished his career with 1,142 yards, 11 touchdowns and no interceptions with the Lombardi Trophy on the line.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Montana currently sits second on the all-time Super Bowl passing-touchdown leaderboard. With that being said, how many of the NFL quarterbacks with multiple touchdown passes in the Super Bowl can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
