Closing out the month the same way he opened it, Washington Nationals first baseman Luis García Jr. powered his team to a 6-4 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday.
Driving in enough of the Nationals' runs to win the game on his own, Garcia recorded his second multi-homer game of June 23 days after the first one.
Going yard in consecutive at-bats, Garcia first clubbed a home run with a runner on first base in front of him in the fifth inning. He sent a 0-1 pitch into the stands in right field. At that time, the red-hot Garcia owned five home runs in a six-game span.
But he wasn't done yet. Two innings later, the longtime Nationals veteran did it again, sending a 2-2 pitch into the same spot in right field. Garcia's second rocket shot of the day came with no one aboard, but was the last of his five RBIs on the day — he also drove in two other runs on another hit earlier in the game.
Garcia finished off his stellar performance going 3-for-5 with the two homers, five runs batted in and three runs scored. He left the game with six home runs in his last six games and his second multi-home run game in his big month.

Before June 2026, Garcia, who made his MLB debut in 2020, had only hit multiple home runs in four separate games. He's taken that number from four to six in fewer than 30 days.
And with still two days left in the month, Garcia, 26, is sitting on numbers that will ensure he blows away any of his previous personal single-season highs. In 78 games, Garcia has 16 home runs, 55 RBIs, 14 doubles, 72 hits and 38 runs. His current slash line reads: .279/.307/.543, placing him within the top 10 slugging marks in all of baseball.
Having matched his full 2025 total from 139 games, Garcia will set a new career high in home runs with three more. He needs 16 more RBIs to surpass his 70 from 2024.
And most importantly, Garcia's career year and All-Star campaign have allowed the Nationals to maintain a winning record during the first half of the season, now sitting at 43-42.
