Kelsey Mitchell added another individual milestone on Tuesday when the WNBA named the Indiana Fever guard the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for her play during Week 8. The honor followed a four-game road stretch in which she paired consistent scoring with steady playmaking, reinforcing the range of responsibilities Mitchell continues to carry for the Fever.
The ninth-year veteran averaged 28.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game during Week 8. Her 112 total points led the league, and she scored at least 25 or more points in each contest as the Fever went 3-1 on their road trip. Indiana took down the Las Vegas Aces twice and the Phoenix Mercury once, with their only loss coming vs. the Los Angeles Sparks by 14 on July 8.
This production extended Mitchell’s streak of 25-point games to six, tying the third-longest such run in league history. The consistency mattered as much as the volume. Mitchell came through in each stop, giving Indiana a dependable scoring presence while also creating opportunities for others.
The WNBA celebrated the honor on its official X (formerly Twitter) account by posting an extended highlight reel of her top plays from the week and announcing her as the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.

Mitchell’s 4.3 assists per game during Week 8 also reflected her broader offensive impact. In the Fever’s Sunday night victory over the Aces, she recorded her 38th consecutive double-digit scoring game, surpassing Tamika Catchings’ previous franchise record of 37, set in 2004.
The former No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 WNBA draft also made the 729th 3-pointer of her career Sunday. That basket moved Mitchell past former Fever guard Katie Douglas, who made 727, and into seventh place on the league’s career list. The milestone underscored the shooting range that has remained central to Mitchell’s value throughout her time in Indiana.
The weekly honor was her fifth career Player of the Week selection and her first of the season. She joined Catchings as one of only two players in Fever history to earn the award at least five times, placing her recent performance within a broader record of sustained production for the franchise.
One weekly award does not define a season or establish a player’s full standing within an organization. Mitchell’s recognition is significant because it fits an established pattern. She has continued to score at a high level, handled a substantial offensive role and added playmaking during a demanding four-game trip.
The Fever’s roster has continued to evolve, but Mitchell’s importance has remained clear. Her latest honor did not create that value. It documented it. By pairing league-leading Week 8 scoring with consistent production, team success and career milestones, the Fever guard again showed why her experience and offensive reliability remain central to Indiana’s present.
