Aaron Rodgers hit with warning before Steelers' upcoming season

There's plenty of positive energy around the Pittsburgh Steelers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers being back in the trenches this season.

It doesn't get much better than one of the most legendary quarterbacks of all time ending his career with one of the most celebrated franchises in the history of the NFL. Plus add that he's back with his beloved coach, and you have an awesome storyline.

But, it's down to business. The Steelers almost got to enjoy the postseason, almost, and that's not good enough. The goal is to get back there and go all the way.

Question emerges about Steelers offense 

ESPN has unleashed its training-camp previews for all 32 teams, and for the Steelers, they give Rodgers a bit of a warning. It's not just about him. He needs a really good offense. That's where the question is right now.

"What will Mike McCarthy's offense look like?" asked ESPN's Brooke Pryor. "The Steelers' new head coach and his staff spent the offseason meticulously laying the foundation for the offense through classroom and on-field work. In the process, he has dropped a few breadcrumbs about what to expect from his unit — primarily that he's going to craft it around Aaron Rodgers."

Pryor warns that at 42 years old, "Rodgers isn't the same player McCarthy last coached in 2017." That's a scary reality, but frankly, there are likely some NFL teams that could go further with Rodgers as their quarterback than whatever 20-something they have leading it. 

"McCarthy will be tasked with maximizing Rodgers' strengths at this stage of his career in how he uses wide receivers," Pryor adds, also throwing in all of the offensive weapons. Those weapons include pass-catchers DK Metcalf, Michael Pittman Jr. and Pat Freiermuth as well as running backs Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle.
