After eight years with the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James is once again the most-coveted free agent in the game.
Most insiders and rumors tie him to the Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors and even Philadelphia 76ers.
Nevertheless, those aren't the only teams that have reached out to the four-time NBA champion's camp this offseason.
And, according to The Athletic insider Jon Krawczynski, James has actually been in constant contact with Minnesota Timberwolves stars Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball.
"As we're recording this on Wednesday morning, we still do not have an announcement from LeBron on where he is going. But I think that certainly opened some people's eyes and got some people thinking about the Wolves' pursuit of LeBron," Krawczynski said on his show. "Anthony Edwards has been directly involved in this process and has made phone calls to LeBron. LaMelo Ball has also had a conversation with LeBron as they try to get their teams considered in the sweepstakes."
James already knows what it's like to play with Edwards, given their days with Team USA.
The fit is seamless, with him sliding into the Julius Randle role and providing the much-needed postseason experience they need to get over the hump.
The Timberwolves came out of left field with a shocking trade for LaMelo Ball, so they're clearly working behind closed doors and pulling strings to get to the next level.
And while most rumors tie James to other destinations, the fact of the matter is that no one really knows what he'll do, and it wouldn't be the first time he's shocked the world with his decision.
