Corey Heim holds off Christopher Bell, Joey Logano to win Brickyard 400

In just his 15th career NASCAR Cup Series start, Corey Heim won one of the sport's biggest races. 

Heim won Sunday's Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, earning his second Cup win after holding off Christopher Bell and Joey Logano over the race's final run.

Heim snatched the lead away from his car owner, Denny Hamlin, on the race's final restart with 34 laps to go. Hamlin made an aggressive move into turn 2 as he attempted to make a run at Heim, but lost his momentum and fell back to fifth. 

Bell made one final charge at Heim with two laps to go, but was unable to complete it, which allowed Heim to scoot away and comfortably score the win.

Heim's victory is the second straight at IMS for 23XI Racing.

"That was the hardest I've ever fought in my life to focus on [corner] exits," Heim told TNT. "It's a dream come true to win at the Brickyard. Just executed all day, made no mistakes."

Heim was unapologetic regarding the final restart with Hamlin.

"Just had to be aggressive," Heim said. "It's for the win. He has a right to be a little frustrated with me. Got a push from the 22 to be in position, so thanks to him."

Bell, Logano, Chase Briscoe and Hamlin rounded out the top five, with Brad Keselowski, Josh Berry, Ryan Preece, polesitter Carson Hocevar and Tyler Reddick completing the top 10.

Other notable finishers include Ty Gibbs in 12th, Austin Cindric in 14th, Daniel Suarez in 17th, Michael McDowell in 18th and Stage 2 winner Ross Chastain in 23rd.

A late crash allowed Todd Gilliland, who finished 24th, to beat Ryan Blaney and win the In-Season Challenge. Blaney was caught up in the crash after being turned by John Hunter Nemechek and finished 26th. 

Chase Elliott finished 38th after a flat tire early in the race, while defending champion Kyle Larson finished last (39th) after crashing in Stage 1.
