Browns WR Jerry Jeudy shuts down narrative that he has QB preference

The Browns are entering yet another season with major quarterback uncertainty. Watson still has time remaining on a contract that has been the worst in the NFL from the moment it was signed, and he is trying to come back from missing the entire 2025 season due to multiple Achilles injuries.

Since joining the Browns prior to the 2022 season, he has appeared in just 19 out of a potential 68 games due to suspensions and various injuries. Prior to that, he missed all of the 2021 season when he was still a member of the Houston Texans. Even when he has played, he has not at all been effective. There is serious concern as to how effective he can be having played so little football over the past five years and the injuries he has dealt with. Especially when he is now 30 years old.

If not Watson, the Browns also have a couple of second-year quarterbacks in Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel. Both quarterbacks saw playing time as rookies in 2025 with very mixed results.

The Browns are already looking at the potential of another long season due to the continued uncertainty at the most important position on the field. The odds against them became even more stacked after trading their best player, defensive end Myles Garrett, to the Los Angeles Rams earlier this offseason. 

The Browns have made the playoffs just three times since returning to the NFL in 1999, while posting just four winning seasons. They are just 8-26 over the previous two years. No long-term answer at quarterback has been the driving factors behind that consistent lack of success. 

Jeudy has spent the past two seasons with the Browns, catching 140 passes for 1,831 yards and six touchdowns during that time. That includes 50 catches for 602 yard and two touchdowns during the 2025 season.
