Steelers to be without Jalen Ramsey at the start of training camp

By all accounts, the mood around the Pittsburgh Steelers as they opened training camp on Tuesday morning was joyous and hopeful as the franchise embarks on its first season with a new head coach since 2007. 

However, there was one piece of news that came out of general manager Omar Khan's talk with reporters that did cause some reason for concern. 

Jalen Ramsey will miss the start of training camp 

Fresh off of playing in all 17 regular-season games and Pittsburgh's lone playoff game, Jalen Ramsey will have to wait before he can be out on the practice field with his teammates. Ramsey will start training camp on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list due to suffering a knee injury during mandatory minicamp in June. 

Despite having to delay his preparation for the 2026 season, there is hope Ramsey will be ready to go when the Steelers kickoff the preseason, let alone when the games count. 

Ramsey should only be out for a few weeks 

For some optimism, Khan mentioned that Ramsey is expected to be out of action for just a few weeks and should be able to eventually take part in practice.
