Giants poised to 'emerge as a legitimate Super Bowl' contender, NFL expert says

It's the thing the New York Giants audience has been wanting to hear for years. This could be the year that the Giants are actual Super Bowl contenders.

Don't pinch yourself. Thanks to the addition of John Harbaugh as head coach of this team, expectations are high in the best possible way. Don't expect the 2026-27 season to be anything like it was last year, and that's a good thing.

NFL analyst and expert Alex Kay of Bleacher Report has released a tally giving one reason each NFL team shouldn't be overlooked this season. "From rebuilding organizations still searching for a breakthrough after years of struggle to established contenders aiming to reclaim the spotlight with another deep playoff run, every squad starts the year at 0-0," he writes.

Giants get good news in projection from NFL expert

As for the Giants, he says Harbaugh makes this team an instant contender. "The New York Giants are ready to emerge as a legitimate Super Bowl threat on the heels of a transformative offseason," he writes. That says it all.

Kay also notes that even though "expectations for Big Blue may be unreasonably high for a program that hasn't won more than six games since 2022," there's a real reason to believe. He writes that there's "every reason to trust Harbaugh can maximize the roster's potential and get the Giants to live up to these lofty projections."

So, it may not happen overnight, but it actually could. The Giants could be a real Super Bowl contender their first year with Harbaugh. Now, it's time for the real test: the start of the season.
