Stefon Diggs uses one word to describe Jayden Daniels after signing with Commanders

On Friday, the Washington Commanders officially introduced veteran Stefon Diggs as their new wide receiver. 

Diggs and the Commanders recently agreed to a one-year deal reportedly worth up to $12M. While speaking with reporters, the Maryland native who played collegiately at the University of Maryland used quite a noteworthy word while describing Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels.

"It’s home," Diggs said about signing with the Commanders, per Cole Sullivan of Heavy and John Keim of ESPN. "My family’s here, my support system is here. You know, I love everything about home and the organization. They take care of their players…They got a great young quarterback. I’m familiar with young quarterbacks. [Daniels is] a star. He's a superstar. I’m excited for him, excited for this team." 

Specifically, Diggs caught passes thrown by Houston Texans quarterback and 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award winner C.J. Stroud during the 2024 campaign. Last season, Diggs helped Drake Maye of the New England Patriots finish second in voting for the Most Valuable Player Award. 

Diggs led the 2025 Patriots with 85 receptions, 102 targets and 1,013 receiving yards. Over 17 games, he tallied four touchdown receptions. 

As for Daniels, the 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year Award winner is looking to bounce back from what he previously referred to as a "miserable" campaign. In total, he was limited to just seven starts last fall before he was shut down after he aggravated a previously suffered elbow injury.

Stefon Diggs sends warning to NFL about Commanders offense

Diggs joined a Commanders team that already had proven commodity Terry McLaurin as its WR1. The Washington offense also features talented running backs Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Rachaad White.

"It’s good being around other players that can ball," Diggs added during his comments. "It’s going to be hard to double somebody in this offense. You’ve got guys that can make plays and guys that can make plays out of the backfield. You’ve got a mobile quarterback. The biggest thing for me is just my commitment to the game. I play outside, I play inside, a little bit of the backfield if they let me."
