Carson Kvapil scores second straight NASCAR O'Reilly Series win after wild finish at Iowa

Two weeks after he scored his first career NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series win at Indianapolis, Carson Kvapil got win No. 2 after a wild chain of events at Iowa Speedway on Saturday.

An excellent launch on the race's final restart got Kvapil out in front of the field, and he held off Rajah Caruth to win for the second consecutive race.

Caruth, William Sawalich, Ross Chastain and Sheldon Creed rounded out the top five, with Nick Sanchez, Taylor Gray, Dean Thompson, Harrison Burton and Brennan Poole completing the top 10.

Saturday's race was filled with cautions, including a late yellow involving Brent Crews, polesitter Ryan Sieg, points leader Justin Allgaier and other frontrunners.

Other notable finishers include Austin Hill in 11th, Parker Retzlaff in 13th, Carson Brown in 15th in his series debut, Crews in 16th and Allgaier in 24th. Defending series champion Jesse Love finished 60 laps down in 35th after early transmission issues. The poor result dropped him from third to fourth in the series standings.

Sieg finished 33rd after putting together one of the best races of his career. After earning his first career pole, Sieg won Stage 1, finished fourth in Stage 2 and led 65 laps before being taken out in a late-race incident.

Carson Ware finished last (37th) after completing 164 of the race's 260 laps.

Eight drivers have now clinched Chase spots going into the Aug. 28 regular-season finale at Daytona, with Sammy Smith sewing up a postseason berth on Saturday.
