CB Terrion Arnold is still drawing interest from teams, but will any sign him?

Free-agent cornerback Terrion Arnold reportedly met and worked out with the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks on Sunday in his quest to put aside his legal problems and potentially land with another NFL team. 

Seattle is the latest team to show some interest in the young cornerback following his release from the Detroit Lions.

Along with Seattle, the Houston Texans also reportedly met with Arnold while a few other teams have shown some interest in him. At this point, nobody has been willing to sign him, and that's not really a surprise given the non-football issues Arnold is dealing with at the moment.

The Lions released Arnold, a first-round draft pick in 2024, after he was arrested just before training camp and is facing eight felony counts that range from kidnapping to armed robbery. He is eligible to sign with any team that wants to sign him after he posted bond, but is facing an Aug. 13 arraignment hearing in Tampa.

With all of that still hanging over his situation, it's hard to imagine a team wanting to make any sort of a commitment to him given how there is no guarantee he will even be available when the season begins. That is also to say nothing of the potential PR backlash a team could face for signing him right now. 

Before his release from the Lions, Arnold had played two seasons with the team and produced some very mixed results. He also missed the second half of the 2025 season due to injury.

Given the inconsistent results and the legal issues, it's really hard to see the upside right now. But NFL teams have a tendency to overlook a lot of things and a lot of issues for the potential of landing an impact player. The fact Arnold is even getting visits and workouts at this point is a pretty strong indicator that there is at least some sort of a market for him.

It is just now a question of whether it will result in somebody signing him, and how the legal process plays out for him. 

Seattle already has a strong starting cornerback duo in Devon Witherspoon and Josh Jobe, while there is high hope for third-round pick Julian Neal. Neal, however, is sidelined at the moment due to injury, and there is no official timetable for when he will be back. That is almost certainly the driving force behind Seattle showing interest in adding another cornerback.
