Patriots HC Mike Vrabel addresses Tom Brady, Seahawks Super Bowl accusation

One of the more unique NFL-related storylines of the summer involved Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald revealing that he spoke with a "conflict of interest" before the Seahawks notched a 29-13 win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX this past February. 

While a theory emerged that former Patriots quarterback and current Las Vegas Raiders minority owner Tom Brady was the person of interest, Macdonald later insisted that wasn't the case. During a Friday appearance on Boston sports radio station WEEI, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel shared that he doesn't buy Macdonald's denial. 

Does Mike Vrabel view Tom Brady as a traitor?

Per Scott McLaughlin of Audacy, Vrabel said that he feels Brady "probably" did speak with Macdonald ahead of the Super Bowl. Vrabel also referenced how it was known before the game that Brady's Raiders were going to hire then-Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak to serve as Las Vegas' new head coach. 

"But that's not why we lost the game," Vrabel added. "We talk to a lot of people, and there's a lot of film, and it's not why we lost the game. I mean, I'm sure they talked. [Brady] hired [Macdonald's] offensive coordinator.

Brady played alongside Vrabel as the two earned three Super Bowl rings while featuring for the Patriots from 2001 through the 2008 season. Together, Brady and Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels both collected six Super Bowl rings during the franchise's dynastic run. 

Was Mike Vrabel annoyed by controversial Tom Brady comments?

Brady angered many New England fans and some former teammates when he said ahead of the Super Bowl that he didn't "have a dog in the fight in this one" and simply wanted to "see good plays, good throws, good strategy, good decisions."

On Friday, Vrabel was asked if he was bothered by Brady's comments. 

"No," Vrabel responded. "I mean, clearly Tom's going out of his way to make it known that he's trying – that he has a new job and a new role. You know, it is really what it is. Tom's a friend. He'll always be a friend. He's a former teammate. But I mean, he's made it clear, like, 'I'm doing something new now.'"

It could be interesting to see if Brady responds to Vrabel or addresses this story. Perhaps TB12 could do so when he's calling a game for Fox on a Sunday afternoon.
