Fever coach, veteran have big words for Caitlin Clark: 'It's not normal'

Following an up-and-down and injury-riddled start to the WNBA season, Caitlin Clark is finally picking up some steam.

The Indiana Fever star guard is climbing the ranks in the MVP race, pulling the strings of the best offense in the league with her playmaking and three-level scoring.

That was on full display again on the team's showdown with Paige Bueckers' Dallas Wings, with Clark going off for 29 points (including 20 in the second half) and 10 assists.

That's why, following the game, veteran guard Tyasha Harris and coach Stephanie White had some interesting words about the Iowa legend.

“I’m in awe watching CC play. Sometimes it’s like it’s normal and — it’s not. So, it’s just great to be on her side officially,” Harris said.

Clark's coach was a bit more poetic when describing the All-Star point guard, sharing the most perfect comp for the way she pulls the strings of the offense:

“She’s like a maestro, the way that she really runs our offense. I think when we’re at our best, she is instructing, she is running it much like a show. It’s tough to match up with us when she’s commanding the floor like that,” White said.

Clark has been under more scrutiny than ever this season, both for her shooting woes and early-season injuries and for her silence on some of the social issues the league usually takes a strong stance on.

Regardless of any of that, Clark is shutting down the outside noise and focusing on what she does best, and with Kelsey Mitchell by her side, the Fever may have enough firepower to outshoot everyone else in the league.
