Aaron Rodgers addresses working relationship with Steelers HC Mike McCarthy

There's a lot of excitement about Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers being back with head coach Mike McCarthy. These two, of course, won a Super Bowl together. They have chemistry. They have respect. Now, they have each other again.

But, what kind of working relationship did these guys really share in Green Bay, and will it translate to Pittsburgh? Rodgers is opening up about their relationship, and it's very special.

Appearing in a recent Zoom interview with Wisconsin media, as shared by Yahoo Sports, Rodgers talked about that relationship. He said that even though there was "push and pull," it was a relationship of respect. That's what you need between a seasoned NFL quarterback and his coach.

Aaron Rodgers says he's had a respectful relationship with Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy

"I obviously molded a lot of my philosophies based on playing under him," Rodgers said on the call, "so to just have that common idea about how the offense should run and what it needs to look like is really fun."

Rodgers also said that sometimes, McCarthy would call him on a Monday after a game and say, "Listen, you changed 10 plays. Can we just go through why you changed these 10 plays?" So, they would talk it out. They would meet in the middle. "That was the beauty in the success that we had," he said.

Rodgers also said there was a "lot of push and pull" and that the coach "gave me a lot of latitude, and I proved that I deserved latitude and could make it work, and when I went too far, he'd rein me back in."

So, this is a relationship that sounds healthy. It couldn't get any better for the Steelers heading into the season.
