Jacob Misiorowski helms Brewers' shutdown of Dodgers

Jacob Misiorowski went six strong innings, Joey Ortiz and William Contreras hit home runs and the visiting Milwaukee Brewers evened the season series against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 4-1 victory Saturday.

The long ball offense was plenty for Misiorowski (12-5), who gave up one run on five hits with one walk and six strikeouts to earn a win for the first time in three starts. The National League Cy Young Award favorite now has a 1.75 ERA.

Milwaukee has a two-game lead over the Dodgers in the National League with each team winning three times against the other this season. The season series will be decided in Sunday's finale of a four-game series.

Shohei Ohtani had an RBI triple, while left-hander Justin Wrobleski (11-5) gave up four runs on four hits over six innings. After earning a spot on the NL All-Star team, Wrobleski has now allowed at least four runs in each of his last four starts.

Alex Call had two hits while in the starting lineup for Kyle Tucker, who was given the day off. Los Angeles fell to 5-10 since July 31.

The Brewers broke through against Wrobleski on Ortiz's two-run home run in the second inning. It came one batter after Contreras ended an 0-for-20 downturn with a single.

The Dodgers answered in the third when Call had an infield single for the first hit against Misiorowski, and Ohtani followed with a triple into the right-field corner to cut the deficit in half.

Milwaukee made it 4-1 in the fourth inning when Contreras hit a two-run home run to left.

Wrobleski, who gave up eight home runs over his first 17 starts of the season, has now allowed 11 over his last four starts.

The Dodgers loaded the bases with one out in the fifth on consecutive singles from Teoscar Hernandez, Call and Hunter Feduccia but failed to score. Misiorowski struck out Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman to end the threat while celebrating with a leaping fist pump.

Milwaukee left-hander Aaron Ashby finished with two scoreless innings for his first save of the season.
