It didn't take long for Beanie Bishop Jr. to impress his new team, as he hopes to solidify Chicago as his next NFL home.
The former All-American from his final college season at West Virginia made sure to be in the right place at the right time on Saturday in the Chicago Bears' preseason win over the Cleveland Browns.
Bishop's play was highlighted by a pair of interceptions, one off Shedeur Sanders and another off Dillon Gabriel. He also deflected three passes and made a couple of tackles when in the game.
Bishop's Bears debut came only a week after a tryout earned him a contract and his latest opportunity.
Before joining the Bears, Bishop was released by the New Orleans Saints months after agreeing to a reserve/future contract on Jan. 5. That agreement came after spending most of the 2025 season as a member of the Saints' practice squad.

Bishop's fight to become a permanent fixture on an NFL roster started when he was waived as part of the Pittsburgh Steelers' final cuts at the end of August a year ago. At the time, Bishop, who went undrafted in 2024 despite his college success, was looking to build off a productive rookie season.
In 2024, Bishop recorded 45 total tackles, with 30 credited as solo, while playing in all 17 regular-season games, including making six starts. He finished the year with seven pass deflections, four interceptions, most notably a game-sealing one off his eventual teammate Aaron Rodgers, a forced fumble and half of a sack.
A frustrated Bishop issued a message to the NFL upon his release by Pittsburgh via the outlet Steelers Now.
"So I’ll essentially set the league on fire, bro, whenever I get to play again. So that’s just how I look at it, just add more motivation, fuel to the fire, so."
While there's still no guarantee Bishop makes the Bears' main roster either, all he can do is to continue to create highlights and put his skills on display. If Chicago ends up not working out, it will then only take one more team to take notice of a motivated player with a track record of making plays.
