
Monday’s game between the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Ill., had it all — including fans going full Royal Rumble in the stands.
A video making its rounds on social media shows several fans going at it, with a Cubs fan seemingly getting the worst of it.
Things appeared to devolve into a wild brawl in the bleachers after a heated exchange of words between fans. It wasn’t clear what exactly caused the commotion, but the situation quickly got out of control, with punches flying from different directions.
A poor fan wearing a No. 23 Ryne Sandberg Cubs jersey got beat up by multiple people but somehow managed to withstand the onslaught, including several left hooks from one determined guy in a gray shirt. You can watch the video here.
As for the game itself, the Cubs emerged victorious in thrilling fashion, with Pete Crow-Armstrong coming through in the clutch with the most telling blow of the contest, a walk-off, two-run home run to secure a 7-5 win in extra innings.
The Cubs and the White Sox have two more games left to play in the series, and based on what transpired in the stands on Monday, Wrigley Field’s security may need to step it up and have stricter measures to control rowdy fans amid the ongoing Crosstown Classic.
