Dodgers' Andy Pages receives brutal injury update after X-rays

Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Andy Pages will miss significant time after X-rays revealed a fracture in his left hand following Friday night’s 5-4 walk-off victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Pages sustained the injury when Pirates right-hander Bubba Chandler hit him on the back of his left hand with a 100.2 mph sinker in the third inning at Dodger Stadium. The 25-year-old initially remained in the game and advanced to third base before playing center field in the fourth.

Enrique Hernandez replaced Pages before the fifth inning. The Dodgers initially announced that Pages had suffered a left-hand contusion, but postgame testing revealed a more serious injury.

Orange County Register reporter Bill Plunkett shared manager Dave Roberts’ update postgame on X, formerly Twitter, reporting the results of Pages’ X-rays.

Pages is expected to miss at least four weeks, with reports placing his recovery timeline between four and five weeks. Although the fracture will remove him from the lineup during a critical portion of the stretch run, the injury is not expected to end his season.

The absence represents a significant setback for the Dodgers. Pages has appeared in 128 games this season while batting .272 with 21 home runs and 80 RBI. The first-time All-Star also entered Friday ranked second among Los Angeles players with 5.6 bWAR.

Andy Pages injury creates major hole in Dodgers outfield

L.A. escaped Friday’s series opener with a dramatic victory, but the fracture suffered by Pages delivered a costly blow that will extend well beyond one game. The 2026 breakout outfielder has developed into one of the Dodgers’ most dependable everyday players by pairing a productive bat with strong defense in center field. His extended absence will force Los Angeles to rearrange its outfield alignment while it awaits his return.

Hernandez and Tommy Edman are among the established options capable of handling center field. The Dodgers could also consider promoting an outfielder from the minor leagues to reinforce their depth.
