Tired legs are a big issue at this point in the season, and the hottest offense in the WNBA is just getting to learn that.
The Indiana Fever are about to play their fifth game in the past seven days, and it might be starting to take a toll on their bodies.
They haven't been as explosive offensively and quick to get back on defense lately.
However, that doesn't mean they'll just complain. When asked about the tough schedule, Caitlin Clark had a simple response: "There's no excuses."
“I mean, like there’s no excuses,” Clark said. “Like yeah, our schedule’s tough, and I think we play more back-to-backs than just about anybody in the league, but you know, it is what it is.”
The Fever are tied with the New York Liberty, Golden State Valkyries and Las Vegas Aces for the most back-to-back games this season (three).
Their most recent back-to-back ends with the Aug. 23 matchup against the Chicago Sky. Clark, however, couldn't care less.
“Everybody’s tired, everybody’s sore, who cares?” Clark said. “Figure out a way to make yourself feel better and suit up and go play.”
Stephanie White's team desperately needs to regain momentum after dropping consecutive games to playoff-caliber opposition in the Dallas Wings and the Liberty.
They're still firmly in the playoff picture and have two MVP candidates in Clark and Kelsey Mitchell, so they'll just have to push through this.
