Angel Reese slips in WNBA player power ranking despite record-setting season

Angel Reese is having another great season in the WNBA, and she's helped make the Atlanta Dream a playoff team. Reese is averaging 16.1 points and 12.4 rebounds per game.

Reese even has her own Barbie doll now.

But Reese has taken a small tumble in WNBA rankings this month. In ESPN's August WNBA player rankings, out on Thursday, she's No. 14, down from No. 13 last month. No. 1 on the tally is A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces, while Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever is No. 2.

Angel Reese still has plenty to be proud of

Even though Reese fell a little in the rankings, she has nothing to be ashamed of. She's the No. 1 rebounder in the league, and that's a valuable skill.

Kendra Andrews of ESPN points that out in ESPN's list, adding that Reese is also "one of only two players averaging a double-double this season."

"She made history on Aug. 20 as the first player in WNBA history to have a game with at least 20 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals without missing a shot from the field (9-of-9)," Andrews adds. "Then Reese broke two records Tuesday in Atlanta's win over Los Angeles: a WNBA single-game record 26 rebounds, which gave her 458 rebounds on the season, seven more than A'ja Wilson's single-season mark set in 2024."

So, Reese has plenty of reasons to be proud of her showing this season. If she can help the Dream get deep into the playoffs, it'll be icing on the cake.
