Diamondbacks players are 'exhausted' by Ketel Marte

Ketel Marte’s Arizona Diamondbacks teammates sound like they are running out of patience for dealing with the drama he continues to cause.

A new story by Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic dug into Marte’s most recent issues with the Diamondbacks, and how the drama is not completely new. Rosenthal writes that players have grown tired of Marte’s drama, the most recent being his unexcused absence from the team while on a road trip to Boston.

“Typical Ketel. Just leaving. It is what it is,” one anonymous player summarized.

Marte unexpectedly vanished just before the Diamondbacks played in Boston last week. He was ultimately fine and sent back to Arizona with a knee issue, where he spent his evening at a casino. He has also been previously accused of being a bad teammate, though he was dismissive of those claims.

Marte is having a bit of a down year, hitting .249 with 21 home runs. He was an All-Star in 2024 and 2025, which is a big reason why the Diamondbacks have tolerated his internal drama up until now.
