Ja Morant thinks that he can get his groove back in 2026-27.
Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard took to Instagram over the weekend to share the results of a recent shooting drill that he did. Lillard apparently hit 1100 of 1168 shots (94.2 percent) that he took in the gym.
That led to a response from Lillard’s new Blazers teammate Morant. The two-time All-Star Morant commented on Lillard’s post with a prediction for next season.
“this gon be funnnnn,” wrote Morant.

Morant was acquired by Portland in a late June trade after a troubled end to his tenure with the Memphis Grizzlies. But Morant is still in his physical prime at 27 years old and should be able to provide a nice complement to Lillard’s three-point shooting with his athleticism and explosiveness.
It remains to be seen if Morant and Lillard will start together in the backcourt next season, especially with Lillard coming off an Achilles tear and Jrue Holiday still beckoning as a third former All-Star guard on the Portland roster. But Morant has already made some surprising acclimations to his new home, and he is clearly looking forward to partnering with a player of Lillard’s caliber next season.
