The Minnesota Vikings have a new quarterback this season in Kyler Murray, and fans hope he helps take them to the next level. J.J. McCarthy hasn't quite worked out as Minnesota had hoped, at least not yet, so Murray is getting the start, and time will tell if he's this team's new franchise quarterback.
One NFL analyst thinks Murray could have an incredible year with the Vikings. How incredible? He could win the NFL MVP award. OK, that's a wild prediction, but that's why it's being called a "bold prediction" in a new feature.
In a piece for CBS Sports out on Monday, Douglas Clawson names one bold prediction for every NFL team. His prediction for the Vikings is that "Kyler Murray will win NFL MVP."
"Sam Darnold took the success of reboot quarterbacks to a new level by winning the Super Bowl last season after the Vikings let him walk," he states in the story. "Minnesota will make up for that by rebooting Murray, who will have a chip on his shoulder after his tenure ended with the Cardinals."
Clawson adds, "We have seen him play like an MVP for parts of a season before, when he had DeAndre Hopkins, and now the pieces are in place for a historic rebound with Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and Jauan Jennings in his WR room."
So, the perfect mix of Murray wanting to prove himself and the Vikings having the people around him to help him could result in a historic season for Murray. Now, this could also go the other way, so we'll find out when the season gets rolling.
