The Green Bay Packers are already missing their best defensive player because of Micah Parsons' injury.
To make matters worse, star running back Josh Jacobs was placed on the Commissioner's exempt list, so he'll miss an indefinite amount of time.
The Packers lost Emanuel Wilson in free agency, but they've always been high on MarShawn Lloyd, a former third-round pick whose career has been derailed by injuries so far.
Nevertheless, now that Lloyd fully healthy, Jordan Love won't sweat about Jacobs' absence. If anything, he knows Lloyd is more than capable of holding down the fort.
“That’s what they brought you here to do, is to go be the player that everybody knows you can be,” Love said (h/t WTAQ).
Lloyd has logged a grand total of six carries since he entered the league out of USC.
But even though he has yet to prove himself at the next level, Love has seen how hard he's worked to get back on the field and what he's done in training camp.
“He hasn’t had the game reps, but he’s been working. He’s been watching Josh [Jacobs], he’s been in practice doing great things,” the quarterback added. “It’s just for him, finding consistency, staying healthy and going out there and making plays.”
The Packers have some major concerns in the interior of the offensive line, so the running game might suffer, even with Jacobs back in the fold.
And after two years of being a non-factor, Lloyd finally has an opportunity to pay back the confidence and patience the organization has shown him.
