49ers Superstar Nick Bosa Does Not Sound Thrilled About Visiting Australia

Nick Bosa did not sell the Australia trip like a travel brochure. NBC Sports Bay Area posted the clip with a laughing caption.

“Bosa sounds thrilled to visit Australia,” the account wrote.

The star pass rusher sounded calm, flat, and very Nick Bosa. He is still going. The San Francisco 49ers booked him on the Melbourne flight after Wednesday’s practice.

Bosa returned to the field for the first time since Aug. 3. Tendinitis had kept him out of most of camp. The issue sits in the same right knee that needed ACL surgery last fall. He tore that ligament in Week 3 of 2025.

Asked if he expects to play the Rams on Sept. 10, he did not hedge much.

“After today, yeah. That was pretty good,” Bosa said. “Today was a great day.”

Bosa admitted he knows almost nothing about the country. He did lock in one priority.

“I heard they have good coffee so I’ll try and take advantage of that and have some good coffee.” That was the plan. “I think there’s some nature exhibits to check out maybe.”

That is the entire scouting report. Coffee first. Wildlife maybe. Just a deadpan plan before a 16-hour flight.

The 49ers open against the Rams at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. San Francisco left early to beat the time change. Week 1 injury updates already put Bosa and George Kittle on that plane.

Kittle is coming back from a torn Achilles. Bosa is coming back from a third ACL operation. Both still need to prove they can play.

Why This Nick Bosa Update Matters for Week 1

The Niners finished last season with the fewest sacks in the NFL. Bosa had two sacks in three games before the knee gave out. A healthy version of him changes the Rams opener overnight.

He said the last month tested his patience. He ramped up too fast with football work. The staff told him to back off. Patellar tendon pain forced the pause.

“I’ve just been trying to get as strong and confident as I can,” Bosa said.

He also described the grind in simple terms.

“We’re taking it one day at a time, but today was a great day,” he said. “The workouts every day are just monotonous. But you realize why you do it when you’re around the guys.”

The next step is pads later in the week. He wants to keep building and not get too high.

The league already turned this game into a global show. Netflix will carry the Rams-49ers Australia opener.

For now, the 2022 Defensive Player of the Year has a short itinerary. Drink the coffee, peek at nature and chase Matthew Stafford. The smile can wait.
