Robert Saleh gets to face his old team

Robert Saleh spent more than three seasons trying to turn the Jets around. It didn't happen, and the Jets fired him during the 2024 season.

Now he gets to start over in Tennessee.

His first regular season game as the Titans' head coach comes against the Jets, which is about as strange a way to begin a new chapter as you could draw. Saleh knows that organization well.

There is no reason to turn this into some ridiculous revenge story. Saleh isn't going to erase what happened in New York by beating the Jets in Week 1.

But he can start changing the story.

A good season in Tennessee would do a lot more for Saleh than anything that happens Sunday. Still, there has to be something satisfying about walking into MetLife Stadium on the other sideline after the way his time with the Jets ended.

Odell Beckham Jr. is back

Odell Beckham Jr. hasn't played a regular season game for the Giants since 2018.

Now Beckham is back.

He's 33 years old, missed the entire 2025 season and has already been through just about every possible turn a football career can take. Cleveland, Los Angeles, Baltimore, injuries, a Super Bowl and eventually a long stretch without a team.

And now he's wearing No. 13 again in New York.

The timing couldn't be better. His first game back with the Giants could come against the Cowboys, the same team he torched with one of the most famous catches in NFL history back in 2014.

Nobody should expect that version of Beckham to walk back onto the field. That guy is gone.

But this is exactly why the game is worth watching. Beckham doesn't need to become that player again. He just needs to show there is enough left to matter.

For a player who once seemed destined to spend his entire career as one of the league's biggest stars, getting another chance with the team that made him famous is a pretty good story for Week 1.
