Steve Sarkisian draws laughter with opinion on Michigan's win

Even Steve Sarkisian was left surprised by what happened in Saturday’s game between the No. 15 Michigan Wolverines and the Western Michigan Broncos at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich.

But more than the controversial call to add a second to the game clock that ultimately allowed Michigan to win on a Hail Mary throw by quarterback Bryce Underwood, it was what happened right after that seemingly surprised the Texas Longhorns head coach more.

“There’s a lot of moving parts that I’m not going to pretend to know everything about, but wow, what a finish,” Sarkisian told reporters during a press conference on Monday, via CJ Vogel of OnTexasFootball.

“You know, my biggest thing was, like, I was shocked they stormed the field. That was probably a surprise.”

Steve Sarkisian was asked about the ending to the Michigan and Western Michigan game.

“I still don’t understand or get the final ruling of it all.”

Many believe it was beneath Michigan fans to celebrate the win in that manner, especially against a team the Wolverines were supposed to beat by nearly 30 points, according to the betting spread.

At the same time, it was clearly just a sigh of relief masquerading as a wild celebration by Wolverines fans, as a loss to Western Michigan would have significantly tanked Michigan’s College Football Playoff chances.

Meanwhile, Sarkisian and the No. 5 Longhorns easily passed their light test on Saturday, crushing the Texas State Bobcats at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas, 59-7.
