Eagles DE Brandon Graham 'officially done' with playing career

When speaking at a Jefferson Health event on Tuesday (video link), Graham announced he is “officially done” with his playing career. He was cut on June 2 in a procedural move, but the possibility of another return loomed over this situation through training camp and the preseason. Graham remained in communication with Philadelphia’s front office, but a second comeback will not be taking place.

While Graham noted he will still be around the Eagles in 2026, today’s news confirms the 38-year-old will not be adding further to his career statistics. His Philadelphia tenure has ended after 16 seasons, each of them spent with the same team. Graham holds the record for most years and games (215) played in franchise history.

The former first-rounder was a defensive mainstay through much of his career, although he saw his workload drop in the years preceding his first retirement announcement. Graham wound up returning to the fold in time to make nine regular-season appearances (and one in the playoffs) last season, though. The two-time Super Bowl champion managed three sacks while seeing sparse defensive usage over that span.

With the Eagles not working out another new Graham arrangement for 2026, they will move forward with their existing pass rush room. Jaelan Phillips departed on the open market, leaving Philadelphia with a trio of new faces along the edge (Jonathan Greenard, Arnold Ebiketie and A.J. Epenesa). Returnees Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt will also be counted on to serve as regular contributors.

Graham noted he will be going into further detail on his podcast tomorrow about his decision to avoid attempting a second comeback. With his playing days (once again) over, his career earnings sit at just over $100MM.
