Jeff Saturday is worried about Dak Prescott's 'massive' early-season problem

That's why former star OL Jeff Saturday has serious concerns about how it could affect Dak Prescott's efficiency early in the season. Speaking on ESPN's "Get Up," he claimed that this would take a "massive" toll on his pocket presence.

“This is massive. And not just because the first four games, you’ve got two division games obviously to start the season off. But you’re talking about Dak Prescott who likes to stay in the pocket, live in the pocket and is an internal guy,” Saturday explained. “Dak wants to stay in the pocket and tear you up from there. Internal pressure is a problem, you hope that TJ Bass is up for the challenge.”

The Cowboys are one of the most improved teams in football, at least on paper, but Prescott has always been a polarizing figure; most people agree he's one of their weak links at times.

Brian Schottenheimer has done a great job of putting him in a position to succeed, establishing the run with Javonte Williams and having him spread the wealth with CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.

However, the 33-year-old has lost most of his mobility with injuries and age, and while he was never Lamar Jackson, his reluctance to scramble might come back to haunt him without Smith on the field. 

The Cowboys' improved defense should help them stay in games even if the offense can't get off to the races.

But this game is won and lost in the trenches, and with their best lineman in the shelf, the Cowboys' season outlook just changed drastically.
