You won't find Carson Hocevar doling out 'artificial' apologies

Carson Hocevar doesn't care for 'artificial' apologies

Hocevar was criticized by Jeff Burton and Dale Jarrett on Sunday's USA Network post-race show for being dismissive of the accident. Hocevar said his attitude towards it was intentional and that he didn't plan on giving Keselowski the customary cordial apology call on Monday. 

"For me, it would annoy me more if [it was] roles reversed," Hocevar said, "And I was just like, 'Oh, sorry.' You keep hearing that all the time, for me that would kind of rub me wrong because it's artificial... There's possibilities for mistakes, right? We race really hard. 

"I just know that I never liked the whole getting called on Monday and apologizing and everything. It's like, 'Okay, yeah, [you're] strategically probably making this call anyways, and I just don't really care to hear it. I don't think anybody ever tries to hit anybody. I think it's extra fluff. That line of, 'I didn't mean to hit you' kind of goes without saying, in my mind."

What also goes without saying is that Keselowski wasn't happy on Sunday. He said that Hocevar's "day is coming." Whether or not that's at Gateway this weekend or further in the future remains to be seen.
