Seahawks QB Drew Lock gets candid after stepping in for Sam Darnold in win over Patriots

The Seattle Seahawks didn't expect their franchise quarterback to go down so early in the season, but during the team's season opener against the New England Patriots, Sam Darnold left the game with a hip injury and didn't return.

So, with Darnold out, Lock took the field. What he did out there was pretty incredible, because he helped the Seahawks pull off a 13-10 win over the Patriots.

So, the Super Bowl rematch ended with the same result: The Seahawks prevailed.

Drew Lock opens up about his big win over the Patriots

After the game, Lock opened up about how he felt about the big win on the field. Lock had a dominant showing, with no turnovers. He also completed 16 of 22 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown.

"I know what kind of a defense we have," Lock said after the game on NBC, according to The Athletic. "I know the playmakers that we have on this side of the ball. If I take care of the football, get it in their hands, don't turn it over, win the turnover battle by the end of the game, I'd like to think we have a pretty good shot of winning. And sure enough, 13-10."

Last season, Lock only played in five games, so this was a big gig for him. Before last season, "Lock had started at least two games in five of his first six NFL seasons," according to The Athletic.

Now, Lock can celebrate, because it's certainly a brag-worthy accomplishment to lead a team to a win in the NFL when you're not the franchise quarterback.
