A Thursday report indicated that Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty was on track to play in his team's Week 1 game against the Miami Dolphins this coming Sunday after he was a full practice participant on both Wednesday and Thursday.
Jeanty suffered an ankle injury during a practice on Aug. 23, but he said on Thursday he feels "really good" and is "super excited" to play this weekend.
"Any time away from the game, it's tough," Jeanty acknowledged, per Ryan McFadden of ESPN. "But to get back out there, mainly with the guys, man, it felt good."
The Raiders made Jeanty the sixth overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, and he led the team last season with 266 carries, 975 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. He also contributed 55 receptions for 346 yards and five scores.
According to ESPN's Dan Graziano, the Raiders were "never concerned" that Jeanty was dealing with "a serious issue."
"Nerve-wracking first going down, but when I popped up I had a sigh of relief," Jeanty said about his initial reaction to the injury, according to Levi Edwards of the Raiders' website. "I knew it wasn't anything too bad."
First-year Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak is expected to lean heavily on a rushing attack that will feature a healthy Jeanty as its first-choice ball-carrier. That said, rookie Mike Washington Jr. reportedly impressed Raiders coaches throughout the summer, and he could get plenty of touches against Miami.
Meanwhile, Jeanty seemingly wants to replace training-camp practices with in-game action as soon as possible.
"It's been offense versus defense, that gets old," Jeanty said. "You want to strap it up and really go against somebody. That's what you practice for, that's what you play this game for, to go dominate somebody else."
As of Friday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Raiders as three-point favorites over the Dolphins. As Kevin Patra of the NFL's website pointed out, it would be a surprise if Jeanty isn't a full-go for Sunday's game at Allegiant Stadium.
