Five must-watch college football games for Week 3

College football has already delivered its share of chaos, and Saturday’s schedule gives it another chance. From an uncomfortable SEC homecoming to a rematch Alabama has probably had circled for a year, there are five games worth building the day around.

No. 2 Georgia at Arkansas

Noon ET | ABC

Georgia gets the Saturday started with its first SEC road trip of the season. The Bulldogs are 2-0 and sitting at No. 2, but conference road games have a funny way of becoming uncomfortable long before anyone expects them to.

Arkansas gets the opportunity at home to completely change the conversation around its season. Georgia should have the advantage on paper, but this is exactly the kind of noon SEC game that becomes interesting if the favorite lets the home crowd hang around.

Florida State at No. 10 Alabama

3:30 p.m. ET | ABC

Alabama hasn't forgotten this one.

Florida State stunned the Crimson Tide, 31-17, in last season's opener. Now Alabama gets the Seminoles in Tuscaloosa with a 2-0 record and a chance to return the favor.

Florida State enters at 1-1 after losing to SMU, making this a much more urgent afternoon for the Seminoles. Another loss would leave them trying to dig out of a 1-2 start before September is even over.

No. 16 SMU at No. 23 Louisville

3:30 p.m. ET | ESPN2

This one doesn't have the brand power of Alabama or Georgia, but don't skip it.

SMU is 2-0 and gets an early opportunity to strengthen its position in the ACC race. Louisville has a little extra incentive after SMU embarrassed the Cardinals, 38-6, last season.

A ranked conference matchup with a revenge angle is a pretty good alternative if Alabama and Florida State gets away from us.

Michigan State at No. 3 Notre Dame

7:30 p.m. ET | NBC

The Megaphone Trophy is back on the line.

Michigan State and Notre Dame renew a rivalry that has been played more than 75 times, but the bigger story is what Notre Dame has at stake. The Irish are 2-0 and ranked No. 3, leaving very little room for a home stumble against an old rival.

It also gives Saturday night another legitimate option alongside the monster SEC game happening in Oxford.

No. 7 LSU at No. 8 Ole Miss

7:30 p.m. ET | ABC

Good luck finding a better storyline Saturday.

Lane Kiffin returns to Oxford for the first time as LSU's head coach after leaving Ole Miss. Both teams are 2-0, both are ranked inside the top 10 and the result immediately carries weight in the SEC race.

Then there is the atmosphere. Kiffin walking back into the Grove wearing LSU colors guarantees this won't feel like another September conference game.

If you're only watching one game Saturday, at least make sure the remote is within reach by 7:30.
